A Message from our President...
Thank you for visiting the Waterbury (CT) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated website!
The Links, Incorporated, founded in 1946 by Sara Strickland Scott and Margaret Roselle Hawkins, is an organization comprised of approximately 16,000 distinguished women in 289 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the United Kingdom. Links members contribute more than 500,000 documented hours of community service annually – strengthening their communities and enhancing the nation.
The Waterbury (CT) Chapter, one of 82 chapters in the Eastern Area, was chartered in May, 1975. Whether planting dogwood trees at Waterbury’s City Hall, making contributions to local families and the homeless during the holidays, or partnering with local organizations; Granville Academy, The Palace Theater, Waterbury PAL, and Girls Inc. of Western Connecticut or Waterbury schools, service to the community is paramount to our mission. Our commitment to Waterbury youth has resulted in the Waterbury (CT) Chapter awarding over $60,000 in scholarships to deserving local high school students.
Through our work with the National Kidney Foundation, the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, we have hosted community forums and sponsored health fairs to empower the greater Waterbury community with important health information. The Chapter is not only active in the local community but it has also focused on helping those in need in Africa. It built the first water wells in the village of Kenya and received an award along with other Connecticut Links’ Chapters for building a school in South Africa called “Houses of Learning.”
Over the past 44 years, the work that the Chapter has done in the Arts, Health and Human Services, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services to Youth has made a profound impact on the Waterbury Community. As we continue to expand our programming to broaden our impact, we invite you to connect with us.
In Friendship & Service,
